About Lagroove

Lagroove is Boulder's first fully Lagree-certified studio, located on the 28th Street corridor that serves a mix of CU students, longtime locals, and transplants who make up Boulder's active, health-conscious community. The studio opened out of a direct response to a gap its founders identified as clients: a fitness experience that combined serious results with a social hub.

Current owners Amanda and Mike Negri came to Lagroove as members before taking over the business. With a background in Boulder community life instead of corporate fitness, they brought with them a shared investment in movement culture and an eye for what makes a studio worthwhile. That client-first lineage shapes how Lagroove operates. They inherited something with real momentum and have worked to preserve its fun, retro identity while building toward growth.

What They Do Best

Lagroove runs 50–55 minute Full Body Lagree classes that move through legs, arms, center core, and obliques in sequence, following the Lagree method to a tee. That consistency is a deliberate choice as instructors cue tempo with precision. The expectation of slow, controlled movement. The room has 16 M3S Megaformers, and the spring adjustability means that within a single class, a first-timer and a longtime regular can be working side by side at entirely different challenge levels without either experience suffering for it. True beginners, or those looking for a tune-up, can start with Lagroove’s Form Focus variation where instructors offer hands-on adjustments and personalized guidance. Cardio Burn is also offered providing a higher-intensity, cardiovascular experience designed to challenge movement while keeping technique at the forefront. Advanced classes also pop-up on the menu, allowing more seasoned Lagree practitioners a real challenge. The options keep the work honest at any level, but Lagroove focuses on one method, executed with depth, for a majority of the schedule.

The Experience

Walking into Lagroove is like stepping back in time. The space has 14-foot ceilings, a skylight, and a roller-rink aesthetic featuring shaggy rugs, green accents, and disco ball overhead. It’s less kitschy than it sounds, bringing in a modern, cohesive chic to an otherwise vintage vibe. The 16 machines are arranged to maximize floor use in a single open room, and the transitions between back-to-back classes are well-managed; there's no bottleneck energy at the door.

The teaching team and front desk staff stand out. Cues are specific, timing is clean, and there’s clear attention to form correction so you get the most out of your session. Modifications and more advanced options are offered throughout which makes their Full Body Lagree class work for every level. You do not need to take an advanced class to have an advanced experience. The sound system ties the whole thing together, providing cool disco rhythms that match the aesthetic without drowning out the instructor. After class, there's a lounge area with seating and wifi, making it a great cool down nook for those who love the community connection.

What Makes Them Special

  • Client-to-owner lineage: Both current owners joined as members before acquiring the business, which means operational decisions are filtered through the experience of being a client, not just a manager.

  • Room design for flow: A single-room studio running back-to-back classes with 16 machines is an operational challenge most studios avoid — Lagroove has solved it through thoughtful spatial planning and front desk execution.

  • Pre-natal programming: Multiple members have trained through pregnancy, citing instructor competency in modification and support.

Why We Love It

Lagroove exists because of it’s people: two of whom took over studio ownership because they wanted to carry on the legacy. The details matter here: the aesthetic, the instruction quality, the hospitality of the front desk staff. The Lagree Method is demanding enough that a mediocre studio can hide behind the format's reputation or trendy twists on the method, but Lagroove is for the purist. And it delivers where it counts. In a market full of options for the Boulder fitness consumer, this is a studio with a clear point of view and a loyal member base to prove it.
